Join us for the Baila Wichita: Afro-Latin Dance & Music Festival
October 9-11, 2026 · Wichita, KS
A weekend dedicated to celebrating the history, culture, community, and joy of Afro-Latin dance and music. We’re excited to present a community-centered cultural experience that brings together nationally recognized dancers, musicians, educators, historians, and local artists to honor the stories, traditions, and rhythms that continue to shape Afro-Latin culture today.
What You’ll Experience
Dance Workshops
Join nationally recognized dance instructors for workshops featuring national and regional instructors. Designed for all skill levels, our welcoming environment makes it easy to learn, connect, and enjoy the joy of dance.
Historical Panel presented by Wichita State University
Explore the rich history and cultural significance of Afro-Latin dance and music through an engaging discussion with Dr. Wilfredo José Burgos-Matos, an expert and historian on Afro-Latin dance. In partnership with the Wichita State University this session connects movement to it’s identity of resilience and joy .
Live Music and Social Dancing featuring Tumbao
Experience the energy of live Afro-Latin music with performances by Wichita’s premier salsa band, Tumbao, alongside local dance artists and performers.
